KIKO group

Below you find a list of current group members and openings. Enthusiastic thesis or internship students are always welcome to contact us directly and to enquire for opportunities. If no openings are listed, but you are a motivated person interested in joining our group, please feel free to get in touch. We may be able to figure out a way to support you. We strive after building a group where diversity is a core aspect, and we would be particularly happy to help you jump on board with us if you belong to an underrepresented category within physics.

Naemi Florin
Naemi Florin

Before starting her PhD studies in experimental quantum optics, focusing on femtosecond laser writing of optical waveguides, Naemi studied engineering physics at KTH, Royal Institute of Technology, in Stockholm. She did her master’s thesis on Weyl semimetal theory in Emil Bergholtz’s group at Stockholm University; the same group that she now collaborates with from the experimental side. She enjoys exploring the boundaries between theory and experiment, as well as the intersection between different scientific fields. Research aside, Naemi’s greatest passion in life is horses, and she also spends a lot of her free time vogue dancing.

Emil Håkansson

Emil started his academic career in Business and Administration by obtaining a B.Sc in Finance from Stockholm University. He then picked up the interest in physics and mathematics which rendered him a B.Sc in Physics as well a B.Sc in Mathematics, both from Stockholm University. Later he obtained a M.Sc in Computational Physics from Stockholm University. During his master work, under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Bourennane, he studied optical micro-ring resonators and used his computational skills to construct 3D computer models of the rings. The models were used for further investigation of solitons and the creation of frequency combs. His other interests include financial trading, reading, programming, playing tennis and cross country skiing. He is pursuing his industrial Ph.D. in quantum communication in collaboration with ABB at Västerås.
